To the north, Armenia borders Georgia (219 km), to the east, it shares a border with Azerbaijan (1,007 km), and to the south, it borders Iran (35 km). To the west, Armenia shares a border with Turkey (328 km). Armenia’s landlocked status and its position between Russia, Iran, and Turkey give it a unique geopolitical role in the region.
