Why is Antarctica considered a desert?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 8

Antarctica is classified as a desert because it receives very little precipitation, less than 50 millimetres (2 inches) annually in some areas. Despite being covered in ice, the continent has an extremely dry climate due to its cold air, which holds very little moisture. The interior of Antarctica is particularly arid, with some regions known as the Dry Valleys experiencing no significant rainfall for millions of years. Strong winds and low humidity also contribute to its desert status. Antarcticaโ€™s unique conditions make it the coldest, driest, and windiest continent on Earth.
