The Sahara Desert is the largest hot desert on Earth, covering an area of approximately 9.2 million square kilometers (3.6 million square miles) in northern Africa. The desert spans several countries, including Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Sudan, and Tunisia. Known for its vast sand dunes and scorching heat, the Sahara experiences extreme temperature fluctuations, with daytime highs often exceeding 40ยฐC (104ยฐF) and dropping sharply at night. Despite its harsh conditions, the Sahara is home to a variety of adapted species, such as camels and desert foxes.
