What is the longest-lasting empire in history?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 36

The Roman Empire is often considered one of the longest-lasting empires in history, existing for over 1,000 years if both the Western and Eastern Roman Empires (Byzantine Empire) are included. The Western Roman Empire fell in 476 CE, while the Eastern Roman Empire continued until the fall of Constantinople in 1453 CE. Its longevity was due to strong governance, legal systems, and adaptability. The empire influenced language, culture, architecture, and law across Europe and the Mediterranean. Although other empires, like the Zhou Dynasty in China, lasted longer in name, the Roman Empireโ€™s cultural and historical impact is unparalleled.
