The first successful electric motor was invented by Michael Faraday in 1821. Faraday, an English scientist, discovered the principles of electromagnetism and demonstrated that an electric current could generate motion. His work laid the foundation for the development of electric motors. However, the first practical electric motor, which was capable of continuous motion and useful for industry, was developed by Thomas Davenport, an American blacksmith, in 1834. Davenportโs motor was one of the first to be commercially available, powering small machines and tools in factories.
