Who invented the refrigerator and when?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 9

The first practical refrigeration system was invented by Carl von Linde, a German engineer, in 1876. Linde developed a process based on ammonia, which allowed for the cooling of food and other perishable items, laying the foundation for modern refrigeration. However, the first domestic refrigerator, as we know it today, was invented by Albert Marsh in 1913, who used the concept of a vapor-compression cycle for cooling. The introduction of refrigeration drastically changed the food industry, making it easier to store and transport perishable items, thus improving food safety and availability.
