Who invented the ceiling fan and when?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 38

The ceiling fan was invented by Philip Diehl, an American engineer, in 1882. Diehl, who had previously worked as a machine shop foreman at the Singer Sewing Machine Company, adapted the electric motor for use in a fan. The ceiling fan was designed to circulate air in large rooms and provide cooling before air conditioning became widely available. Diehlโ€™s invention was initially used in industrial settings, but by the early 20th century, ceiling fans became popular in homes, especially in warm climates. Today, ceiling fans remain an essential part of home cooling systems.
