The computer, as we know it today, was developed by multiple inventors over time, but Charles Babbage is considered the “father of the computer.” In the 1830s, Babbage conceptualized and designed the Analytical Engine, a mechanical device capable of performing any calculation. However, the first true electronic computer was developed in 1945 by John Presper Eckert and John W. Mauchly. Their creation, the ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer), was the first programmable digital computer, marking the beginning of modern computing and the digital age.
