Who invented the toaster and when?

The first electric toaster was invented by George Schneider in 1893. Schneider’s design, known as the “Eternal” toaster, was one of the first electric devices designed to toast bread. However, it was Charles Strite, an American inventor, who is credited with the modern version of the automatic toaster. Strite patented his design in 1921, which included a spring-loaded mechanism that allowed the toasted bread to pop up once it was done. His invention made the toaster a common household appliance, and it quickly became a staple in kitchens worldwide.
