The electric guitar was invented by George Beauchamp in 1931. Beauchamp, an American inventor and musician, developed the first solid-body electric guitar, which used electromagnetic pickups to amplify the sound of the strings. This invention was crucial in the development of modern rock and roll music. Although several inventors contributed to the evolution of the electric guitar, it was Beauchampโs design, in collaboration with Adolph Rickenbacker, that made the electric guitar a commercially viable instrument. This led to the birth of iconic music genres and the guitarโs prominent place in popular music.
