Who invented the broom and when?

The broom, as we know it today, has a long history, but the modern broom design was popularized by a man named Leonard R. M. in the early 19th century. He improved upon earlier designs that used bundles of twigs and branches to clean floors. Leonard R. M. created a more durable broom with a thicker bristle design, which made it more effective at sweeping.
