How do elephants live?

Elephants are large herbivorous mammals found in Africa and Asia. African elephants live in savannas, forests, and deserts, while Asian elephants are mainly found in forests. They live in matriarchal herds led by the oldest female. Elephants are intelligent animals with complex social structures, and they communicate using a variety of vocalizations, gestures, and even low-frequency sounds that can travel long distances. Their diet consists mainly of grasses, fruits, and bark, and they can eat up to 300 pounds of food daily. Elephants drink significant amounts of water, often consuming up to 50 gallons a day. They reproduce sexually, with females giving birth to one calf after a long gestation period of about 22 months. Calves are nurtured by their mothers and the rest of the herd, staying with the group for several years as they learn survival skills.
