How do some animals adapt to life in the desert?
- ๐๏ธ 10
Animals that live in the desert have developed a variety of adaptations to survive extreme heat and scarce water. Some, like camels, store fat in their bodies, which can be metabolised for energy and water when food is scarce. Many desert animals, such as nocturnal rodents and reptiles, are active at night to avoid the intense daytime heat. Some animals have specialized kidneys or other systems that allow them to conserve water, producing concentrated urine and dry feces to prevent dehydration.
