How do plants absorb nutrients from the soil?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 14

Plants absorb nutrients from the soil through their root systems, primarily via root hairs. These microscopic root structures increase the surface area, allowing for more efficient nutrient uptake. Nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and trace minerals are dissolved in water within the soil and are taken up through osmosis and active transport. The roots also work in symbiosis with fungi (mycorrhizae), which enhance the plant’s ability to absorb water and minerals. This process ensures the plant receives the nutrients it needs for growth and development.
