Where is the Amazon River’s source?

The Amazon River’s source is located in the Andes Mountains in southern Peru. It begins as a stream called the Apurímac River, which merges with other tributaries to form the mighty Amazon. From its source, the river travels over 6,400 kilometres (4,000 miles) through South America, crossing countries like Brazil and Colombia, before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean.
