How do ants communicate?
- ๐๏ธ 10
Ants communicate primarily through pheromones, chemical signals that convey information about food sources, danger, or the colonyโs needs. For example, when a worker ant finds food, it releases a trail pheromone to guide others to the source. Ants also use tactile signals, such as touching antennae, and vibrations to exchange information. In some species, ants produce sounds by stridulating (rubbing body parts together) to signal distress. These communication methods allow ants to coordinate complex tasks like foraging, building nests, and defending the colony.
