How do sea otters keep from drifting apart while sleeping?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 8

Sea otters keep from drifting apart while sleeping by holding hands, a behaviour known as “rafting.” They form groups and interlock their paws to stay together in currents. Otters may also anchor themselves to kelp forests, wrapping their bodies or paws in the seaweed for stability. These behaviours prevent them from being separated by tides and currents and allow them to rest safely while floating on the waterโ€™s surface.
