How do honeybees communicate the location of food to other bees?
- ๐๏ธ 13
Honeybees communicate the location of food to other bees using a behaviour called the “waggle dance.” When a worker bee finds a food source, it returns to the hive and performs a dance on the honeycomb. The angle and duration of the dance indicate the direction and distance of the food source in relation to the Sun and the hive. Other bees observe the dance and use the information to fly directly to the food source. This sophisticated form of communication helps the colony efficiently gather food.
