Sudan, located in northeastern Africa, shares borders with seven countries. The total length of Sudan’s border is approximately 7,000 kilometres. To the north, it borders Egypt (1,275 km). To the east, it shares a border with the Red Sea, as well as Eritrea (605 km) and the small border with Ethiopia (744 km). To the south, Sudan borders South Sudan (2,018 km). To the west, it shares borders with Chad (1,360 km), the Central African Republic (1,065 km), and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (134 km). Sudan’s location places it at the crossroads of North and Sub-Saharan Africa, making it geopolitically significant in regional trade and security.
