The deepest point on Earth’s surface is the Challenger Deep, located in the Mariana Trench in the western Pacific Ocean. It reaches a depth of approximately 10,984 metres (36,037 feet). The trench was formed by the subduction of the Pacific Plate beneath the Mariana Plate. The extreme conditions, including immense pressure and complete darkness, make it one of the least explored regions on the planet. Despite this, unique organisms such as amphipods and snailfish thrive in its depths, adapted to the harsh environment.
