Kenya, located in East Africa, shares borders with five countries. The total length of Kenya’s border is approximately 3,477 kilometres. To the north, Kenya borders Ethiopia (830 km), and to the west, it shares a border with South Sudan (232 km). To the south, Kenya borders Tanzania (769 km), and to the east, it shares a coastline along the Indian Ocean. To the northwest, Kenya also borders Uganda (1,306 km). Kenya’s position at the heart of East Africa makes it a vital trade and transport hub, particularly for access to the Indian Ocean.
