Where is the world’s largest desert?

The largest desert in the world is the Antarctic Desert, covering about 14 million square kilometres (5.4 million square miles). Although it is covered in ice, it is classified as a desert due to its extremely low precipitation, with some areas receiving less than 50 millimetres (2 inches) of snow annually. The Antarctic Desert is cold, unlike hot deserts like the Sahara, but it still exhibits the defining characteristics of a desert, including dry conditions and a lack of moisture.
