How do polar bears hunt seals?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 7

Polar bears hunt seals by waiting near breathing holes in the ice, where seals surface for air. They remain motionless, blending into the snow, and strike quickly when a seal appears. Polar bears also use their keen sense of smell to locate seal dens beneath the snow and ice. In summer, when sea ice is scarce, they may scavenge carcasses or hunt smaller prey like fish and birds. This versatile hunting strategy makes them apex predators in the Arctic.
