How do possums live?
- ๐๏ธ 6
Possums are marsupial mammals found primarily in Australia and surrounding regions. They are nocturnal and arboreal, spending much of their time in trees, where they forage for food such as fruits, insects, small mammals, and birds. Some species are also known to scavenge human settlements. Possums are solitary animals, except during mating or when a mother is raising her young. They have a prehensile tail, which they use for grasping branches and balancing while climbing. Mating occurs in late winter or spring, and after a gestation period of 17-18 days, the female gives birth to underdeveloped young that crawl into her pouch. The young remain in the pouch until they are fully developed and continue to ride on the motherโs back until they are old enough to live independently.
