How do bees produce honey?
- ๐๏ธ 23
Bees produce honey by collecting nectar from flowers and storing it in their stomachs, where enzymes begin breaking down complex sugars into simpler ones. Back at the hive, they regurgitate the nectar and pass it among worker bees, further processing it. The bees then deposit the nectar into hexagonal wax cells and fan it with their wings to evaporate excess water. Once the honey thickens, they seal the cells with wax, preserving it as a long-term food source for the colony. Honey also acts as a natural antimicrobial agent, allowing it to remain fresh.
