How do otters live?

Otters are aquatic mammals found in a wide range of habitats, including rivers, lakes, and coastal areas around the world. They are known for their playful behavior, using rocks and tools to crack open shellfish and other food. Otters are carnivores and primarily eat fish, crabs, mollusks, and other aquatic animals, often hunting in pairs or small family groups. They are excellent swimmers and spend a significant portion of their time in the water, using their dense fur to stay warm. Otters need to consume 15-25% of their body weight in food daily to maintain their energy levels. They reproduce sexually, with females giving birth to litters of 1-6 pups after a gestation period of 60-63 days. The pups stay with their mothers for several months until they are old enough to swim and hunt independently.
