How do black bears live?
- ๐๏ธ 6
Black bears are found across North America, from forests to swamps, and they are typically solitary creatures. They are omnivores and have a varied diet, consuming fruits, berries, nuts, small mammals, and carrion. Black bears require large quantities of food to prepare for hibernation, eating up to 20,000 calories per day during the late summer and fall. They live in dens during the winter months, where they enter a state of hibernation, slowing down their metabolism. Black bears reproduce sexually, with females giving birth after a gestation period of around 7 months, usually to 2-3 cubs, which stay with their mother for up to two years.
