How do sea cucumbers defend themselves?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 10

Sea cucumbers defend themselves using several unique strategies, such as ejecting their internal organs to distract predators. This process, called evisceration, allows them to escape while their organs regenerate later. Some species also release sticky, toxic threads to entangle or repel attackers. Additionally, their tough, leathery skin provides some protection from predation. Sea cucumbers also blend into their environment, relying on camouflage to avoid detection. These defence mechanisms are crucial for their survival in the diverse and competitive marine ecosystem.
