Why do some insects mimic other animals or plants?
- ๐๏ธ 5
Some insects mimic animals or plants as a survival strategy. Mimicry helps them avoid predators or lure prey. For example, stick insects resemble twigs, making them nearly invisible in their environment. Hoverflies mimic the appearance of bees or wasps to deter predators, despite being harmless. This adaptation, known as Batesian mimicry, increases their chances of survival by exploiting the instincts of potential threats.
