How do bowerbirds live?
- ๐๏ธ 41
Bowerbirds are renowned for their elaborate nest-building behavior, with males constructing intricate “bowers” made of twigs, leaves, and colorful objects to attract females. They are found in the rainforests and woodlands of Australia and New Guinea. Bowerbirds are omnivorous, feeding on fruits, seeds, insects, and small vertebrates. They are arboreal and terrestrial, often foraging both in trees and on the ground. Males spend a significant amount of time decorating and maintaining their bower, displaying their collections of brightly colored items like plastic, shells, and even bits of glass. After attracting a mate, the female builds a separate nest where she lays eggs, which she incubates and cares for until the chicks hatch.
