How do frogs breathe?
- ๐๏ธ 27
Frogs breathe both through their skin and their lungs. When they are in water or damp environments, frogs can absorb oxygen through their skin via a process called cutaneous respiration. This allows them to stay underwater for long periods. On land, frogs rely on their lungs to breathe. Some species of frogs can even breathe through their mouth and skin simultaneously. The ability to respire through their skin is especially important during hibernation, when frogs may spend long periods in a dormant state with minimal oxygen.
