How do mushrooms reproduce?
- ๐๏ธ 24
Mushrooms reproduce through spores, which are microscopic cells capable of growing into new fungi. These spores are released from structures like gills or pores located on the underside of the mushroom cap. Carried by wind, water, or animals, spores land in suitable environments and germinate, forming thread-like structures called hyphae. Hyphae from compatible fungi fuse to create a mycelium, which develops into new mushrooms under favourable conditions. This reproductive cycle plays a vital role in ecosystems by breaking down organic matter and recycling nutrients.
