- ๐๏ธ 42
The Sahara Desert is located in North Africa and spans across 11 countries, including Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Sudan, Tunisia, and Western Sahara. Covering approximately 9.2 million square kilometres (3.6 million square miles), it is the largest hot desert in the world. The Sahara features vast sand dunes, rocky plateaus, and sparse vegetation. Despite its harsh conditions, the desert supports unique wildlife, such as fennec foxes and desert-adapted antelopes, as well as ancient human cultures.
