Why do deserts have extreme temperature differences?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 8

Deserts experience extreme temperature differences between day and night due to their lack of moisture. Without significant humidity or vegetation to retain heat, desert temperatures drop rapidly after sunset. During the day, the Sun heats the ground intensely, but this heat dissipates quickly at night. The absence of clouds also contributes to the rapid loss of heat. For example, the Sahara Desert can reach over 40ยฐC (104ยฐF) during the day and drop below freezing at night.
