Why do elephants have long tusks?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 24

Elephants use their tusks for various purposes, such as digging for water, stripping bark from trees, and lifting heavy objects. These elongated incisors also serve as weapons for defence against predators or during conflicts with other elephants. Tusks play a role in social interactions, with larger tusks often signalling dominance. Unfortunately, their value to humans for ivory has led to extensive poaching, endangering many elephant populations. Conservation efforts are crucial to protect these magnificent animals and ensure their survival in the wild.
