How do pandas live?
- ๐๏ธ 6
Giant pandas are native to the mountain ranges in central China, particularly in Sichuan, where they live in temperate broadleaf and coniferous forests. They are primarily herbivores, with bamboo making up about 99% of their diet. Pandas eat vast quantities of bamboo, consuming between 26 and 84 pounds per day, as bamboo is low in nutrients. Despite their bamboo-heavy diet, pandas are classified as carnivores due to their digestive systems. Pandas are solitary animals, with each individual maintaining a large home range. They are mostly sedentary and spend much of their time eating and resting. Pandas reproduce sexually, with females giving birth to one or two cubs after a gestation period of 5 months. The mother raises the cubs alone, and they are completely dependent on her for the first year of their lives.
