How do polar bears stay warm in freezing temperatures?

  • 👁️ 6

Polar bears are perfectly adapted to life in the Arctic, where temperatures can drop to -40°C (-40°F). They have a thick layer of blubber beneath their skin, which acts as insulation, keeping them warm even in the coldest environments. Their fur is dense and covers their entire body, including their paws, which are equipped with fur pads to prevent frostbite. Polar bears also have black skin underneath their fur, which helps absorb and retain heat from the Sun. Additionally, their large paws help distribute their weight over ice, preventing them from sinking into the snow.
