How do bees make honey?
- ๐๏ธ 10
Bees make honey by collecting nectar from flowers using their long, tube-like tongues. The nectar is stored in their “honey stomachs,” where enzymes break it down into simpler sugars. Once back in the hive, the bees pass the nectar to other worker bees, who process it further. They then deposit the nectar into hexagonal honeycomb cells and fan it with their wings to evaporate excess water. This thickens the nectar into honey, which the bees seal with a wax cap for storage. Honey serves as a food source for the colony, especially during the winter months when flowers are scarce.
