How do mantises live?
- ๐๏ธ 5
Mantises are predatory insects found in a variety of habitats, including forests, grasslands, and gardens across the world. They are known for their distinctive “praying” posture, where their forelegs are bent in a way that resembles hands clasped in prayer. Mantises are carnivorous and primarily hunt other insects, such as flies, moths, and crickets, using their powerful forelegs to capture prey. They are solitary creatures, often ambushing prey by remaining still for long periods. Mantises reproduce sexually, with some species engaging in sexual cannibalism, where the female may eat the male after mating. After mating, females lay their eggs in a protective egg case, from which nymphs hatch.
