How do lions live?
- ๐๏ธ 14
Lions are social animals that live in groups known as prides. A pride typically consists of several related females, their offspring, and a few adult males. Lions are found in sub-Saharan Africa and some parts of India, particularly in savannas, grasslands, and open woodlands. They are carnivores and hunt large herbivores such as zebras, antelopes, and buffaloes. Female lions do most of the hunting, working together to take down prey, while males protect the pride’s territory. Lions typically eat once every two to three days, consuming large amounts of meatโup to 15% of their body weight in one feeding. They reproduce through mating within the pride, with females giving birth to 1-4 cubs after a gestation period of about 110 days. Cubs are raised collectively by the females in the pride.
