What is the most common type of rock on Earth?
- ๐๏ธ 7
The most common type of rock on Earth is igneous rock, formed from the cooling and solidification of magma or lava. Examples of igneous rocks include basalt and granite. Basalt is the most abundant type of rock on the Earthโs surface, making up much of the oceanic crust. Granite, on the other hand, is more common in continental crust. Igneous rocks can form beneath the surface, in the case of intrusive rocks, or on the surface, as in volcanic eruptions, when lava cools quickly.
