Why do plants produce fruit?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 8

Plants produce fruit to protect and disperse their seeds. Fruits develop from the fertilised ovary of a flower and serve as a protective covering for the seeds inside. The sweetness or colour of the fruit attracts animals, which eat it and disperse the seeds through their droppings. This ensures the seeds spread to new locations, increasing the plant’s chances of reproduction and survival.
