How do bats sleep upside down?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 11

Bats sleep upside down because their legs are adapted for clinging rather than walking. Tendons in their feet lock automatically when they hang, allowing them to remain suspended without expending energy. This position also keeps them safe from predators, as few animals can reach them in high or hidden roosts. Additionally, hanging upside down enables bats to take off into flight easily, as their lightweight bodies and wings require gravity to aid in launching.
