Where is the world’s largest known living organism located?

  • 👁️ 12

The world’s largest known living organism is a fungus in the Malheur National Forest in Oregon, USA. Known as Armillaria ostoyae, this underground organism spans over 2,400 acres (970 hectares). This honey fungus grows as mycelia—an interconnected network of fungal filaments—and it is considered a single organism because it shares the same genetic structure. It is thought to be thousands of years old, slowly expanding and digesting the trees and organic material in the forest floor.
