How do jellyfish move through the water?

  • 👁️ 4

Jellyfish move through water by contracting and relaxing their bell-shaped body. This movement forces water out from beneath them, propelling them forward in a form of jet propulsion. Jellyfish also rely on ocean currents to help them travel long distances, using their muscular contractions to steer and adjust their position in the water column. While they don’t have a brain or complex nervous system, jellyfish can sense environmental changes through specialized cells, allowing them to react to stimuli, such as the presence of food or predators.
