Why do cats purr?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 7

Cats purr as a form of communication and self-soothing. They often purr when content, such as during petting or relaxation, but they may also purr when stressed, injured, or unwell. The vibrations from purring are believed to promote healing by reducing pain and improving circulation. Purring serves as a non-verbal way for cats to bond with humans and other animals. Kittens also purr to communicate with their mothers while nursing, reinforcing the behaviour from a young age.
