How do skunks live?
- ๐๏ธ 15
Skunks are nocturnal mammals found primarily in North and South America, inhabiting forests, grasslands, and urban areas. Skunks are solitary animals, living in burrows or under structures like rocks, logs, and abandoned buildings. They are omnivores, feeding on a wide range of food, including insects, small animals, fruits, and plants. Skunks are well known for their strong defensive spray, which they use to deter predators. The spray is produced by glands near the base of the tail and can be ejected with great accuracy. Skunks are territorial and mark their homes with scent glands. They reproduce sexually, with females giving birth to 4-7 kits after a gestation period of about 2 months. The kits are cared for by the mother until they are old enough to fend for themselves.
