To the north and east, Bolivia borders Brazil (3,400 km). To the southwest, it shares a border with Chile (861 km), and to the south, it borders Argentina (832 km). To the north, Bolivia also shares a border with Peru (1,075 km). Bolivia’s landlocked status has historically affected its trade and access to international ports, especially following its loss of coastal territory to Chile in the War of the Pacific.
