How do koalas live?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 9

Koalas are arboreal marsupials found in eucalyptus forests along the eastern and southeastern coasts of Australia. They live solitary lives, spending most of their time resting or feeding on eucalyptus leaves, which make up the majority of their diet. Koalas are herbivores and eat about 1-2 kilograms of leaves each day, but eucalyptus leaves are low in nutrients, so they have a low metabolic rate. Koalas sleep up to 18-22 hours a day to conserve energy. They are territorial and use scent marking to define their range. Koalas reproduce sexually, with females giving birth to a single joey after a gestation period of about 35 days. The joey spends several months in the mother’s pouch and continues to cling to her back as it matures.
