The Canadian flag, known as the “Maple Leaf,” features two vertical red bands on either side with a white square in the middle. In the center of the white section is a stylized, red maple leaf with 11 points. The flag was designed in 1964 and officially adopted on February 15, 1965, a date that is now celebrated as National Flag of Canada Day. The maple leaf was chosen as a symbol because of its historical association with Canada, as it had been used by Canadian military regiments and on official symbols. The flag is a strong symbol of Canadian identity and pride, recognized worldwide as a representation of the country.
